IMDB Synopsis: Minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob are recruited by Scarlet Overkill, a super-villain who, alongside her inventor husband Herb, hatches a plot to take over the world.
After two “Despicable Me” movies and a third one on the way, it does not surprise me too much to be watching an spin off. The franchise has become a blockbuster. The spin off follows the most successful part of the franchise, Gru’s Minions. These are the giant, yellow, tic tac looking creatures that serve Gru. Here we get their origin story.
Turns out they live to serve evil masters. They started with Dinosaurs and Vampires and have worked their way to Villain Con in Florida in search of a new master.
This premise only works for so long. As much as I like the minions, it turns out a feature film about them gets a little long in the tooth. Who would of thought it eh? Their gibberish speak for example is only funny for so long.
I am not the target audience for this film. It is aimed a little kids who seem to be obsessed with these guys. I enjoyed the ride at Universal Studios but the films just have not won me over yet. Then again the ride is only a few minutes long.
