IMDB Synopsis: A cobbler, bored of his every-day life, stumbles upon a magical heirloom that allows him to become other people and see the world in a different way.
“The Cobbler” is the latest Adam Sandler flick and sadly it is one of his worst. I have been a strong supporter of his in recent years. Yes most of his latest films have sucked. I did however like “Blended”. This movie though just plain sucks. It tries to be funny and dramatic and fails miserably at both.
The most interesting thing here is that the film was directed by Tom McCarthy, who brought us “The Station Agent”, “The Visitor” and the upcoming “Spotlight”. What drew him to this project? Maybe like myself he has faith in Sandler films still. Even his skills can’t save this dreadful script though.
Sandler seems to be sleep walking through the his film as if he could not be more interested. This is a shame. I still think he is funny and can be in a funny movie again in the future. I think at this point he is either residing to these types of comedies for money or he needs to make a big change.
