IMDB Synopsis: A young woman is followed by an unknown supernatural force after getting involved in a sexual encounter.
“It Follows” is a creepy horror thriller that falls just a little short of classic status in my books. The premise is kind of awesome and terrifying if you really think about it. A demonic force I transferred by sex from person to person. That force follows you everywhere until your demise. You are the only one who can see it. It is always there.
The results are a series of scenes where an unstoppable force just keeps coming after a group of teenage kids. The cast are mostly unknowns but damn do they give some riveting performances.
The director is David Robert Mitchell who also wrote the script. He is someone to watch in the future. He reminded me a bit of Polanski and Kubrick in the way that he lets the dread just unfold and suck is right in. The only short coming for the films was some of the rather budget visual effects. I almost wish that there was no visual effects at all. Just stellar makeup effects as well as good old fashioned dread. Still this is a must see for those who have longed for the days of original horror flicks.
