“Hall Pass” is a lot more honest then I think most people will anticipate. It is also hilarious. But in it’s own bizarre way it does take a look at some of the issues that come up in a marriage. I think the idea of a Hall Pass is not something I think is very common, but the themes that surround it are not that unheard of.
The Hall Pass itself is described as a week off from marriage to engage in meaningless and guilt free sex with no reprisals. The reason that Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis are issued this time to themselves is because they are constantly distracted by younger girls and talking about sex. Their wives hope that the Hall Pass will get this out of their system.
The results should not be too surprising considering that this is directed by the Farrelly Brothers. First the guys head to where they think hot women will be, starting with Applebees. Eventually they find themselves having a little success in actual night clubs. This leads to the eventual realization that they love their wives too much to willingly cheat.
My only issue with this movie is that it had the opportunity to get really nasty but it plays it pretty safe, happy ending and all.
