“The Legend Of The Guarians: The Owls Of Ga’Hoole” has its moments of stunning animation but it is bogged down by chaotic action punctuated by hyper vivid sequences of slow motion and a soundtrack that hammers the audience until they have had enough. None of this is helped by the awful 3D images.
Zack Snyder, the director “300” and “Watchman” applies his visual technique to an animated film and the results are rather mixed. I’m not sure that this style works well with this particular story. Do not get me wrong I am a big fan of Snyder’s work but in an animated story, it just didn’t fit well with me.
The whole film is not helped at all by 3D. When you have a film that cuts together action sequences in to little fragments, it is best not to have them jump right in to your face. The glasses also made the dark images even darker and blurrier, which made me quite frustrated. I hope this new fad dies very quickly.
