I have to say that I have been excited for this movie since it was first announced. An action film starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Ok so the last two are only in one scene but still it is the first time they have been on screen with Stallone. That moment alone is worth the price of admission. After seeing the film I can say I had a good time but I found myself pretty underwhelmed.
With a cast like this I expected this film to blow me away. Instead we get a series of car chases and shoot outs, with one moment of pure awesomeness. That moment comes when one of hour heroes sits on the outside of a plane while lighting up a pretty massive explosion. The other stuff was fun but pretty standard.
The story follows a group of soldiers for hire, lead by Stallone and Statham, who are hired to take out a South American dictator. The team consists of the previously mentioned actors. The villains are lead by Eric Roberts and Steve Austin and if this movie gets one thing right it is that Steve Austin would be able to kick Sylvester Stallone’s ass.
This is lots of fun and is defiantly better then the awful “A-Team” adaptation that we got this summer, but it could have been so much more in my opinion.
