Mike Myers is "The Love Guru"

Mike Myers is “The Love Guru”

What a sad day this is.  A movie with Mike Myers that is not only devoid of laughter, but is so awful that it is hard to point out where it went wrong.  Apparently Myers wrote this movie as a tribute to his late father.  Maybe they enjoyed this type of humour, but sadly I do not.  Don’t get me wrong, I can laugh at bodily function jokes, but here it is all they seem to have in their arsenal.

Myers plays an American, raised by Indian gurus who grows up to become a love guru.  When the Toronto Maple Leafs star player’s game starts to fall apart after his wife leaves him, the owner brings in Pitka, the Myers character, to help reunite them.  The owner is played by Jessica Alba, the coach of the team is played by Verne Troyer, and the star player is Romany Malco.  This is all some serious miscasting.  None of them are funny in their roles.  Actually, I should mention that Justin Timberlake plays a French Canadian goalie, who generates some mild laughs.  Overall, this movie puts a serious blotch on Myers career.
