Sylvester Stallone mows down the enemy in “Rambo”

After seeing “Rocky Balboa” I was looking forward to the new instalment to the “Rambo” franchise.  Sylvester Stallone proved that he still has what it takes to direct and act in a movie.  But I was quite let down after seeing “Rambo”.  It is an ugly movie.  The story is basically a setup for scenes of pointless stomach turning violence and gore.

The story involves Rambo providing transport for a group of human rights missionaries in to war torn Burma.  When he gets word that they end up as prisoners, he ventures in to Burma to find them.  From there he single headedly takes on most of the Burma rebels, in a series of gruesome deaths and horrendous violence.

I was very disappointed in this movie, after how great “Rocky Balboa” was.  I think if Stallone makes another film, he should do something original, and leave the franchise revivals while his batting average is at 50 percent.
